The American Home Economics Association marks its golden anniversary after fifty years of advancing home management education. Since its 1909 founding, the field has improved nutrition, budgeting, textiles, and child development, with 46 000 home economists teaching in schools and 3 500 aiding industry.

Mrs Ernest Roberts spoke on Lessons Taught By Fathers of the Bible detailing sacrifice patience obedience and faith linked to biblical figures. Gifts were presented to James Oliver and Clarence Hill, with a Fathers Day remembrance for all men and boys.
Five Islands residents gathered for Father’s Day services at the Second Baptist Church with recognitions for Harold Pinkham as youngest father James Stevens as oldest father and Clarence Preble as father of most children. A wedding in Bath united Nancy Potter and Raymond Hanna with a small family reception, and local residents New Jersey trip highlights and hospital visits followed.
Mr and Mrs Everett Parker of Boston return home after a weekend visit with Mrs John Parker of Summer Street at her summer home in Sebasco. They came to attend the Holland Hunger wedding at Sebasco.
Superior Court heard Robert A. Gallagher of Bath charged with driving while intoxicated on Washington street. The case was moved from an earlier January term. Gallagher is defended by Harold J. Rubin.
Captain George Cook Stacy 70 a veteran Kennebec river pilot died Sunday at Bath Memorial Hospital after a brief illness Funeral services 2 p m Tuesday at Fred S Curtis funeral home Stacy piloted many Navy vessels in and out of the Kennebec river and served Bath Iron Works as port and assistant port captain Born May 19 1889 at Parker Head Phippsburg he went to sea at 13 and later worked with Bath Iron Works since 1931 Surviving are his widow Marguerite Holmson Stacy two daughters and a son plus several grandchildren and nieces and nephews
Funeral services for Joseph G Arsenault were held at 7 30 a m at Arthur F Mayo Son Funeral Residence followed by a Requiem High Mass at St Marys Church officiated by Rev Francis E Morrissey. Bearers listed. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Gene Leeman aged 11 arrives in Portland with brother Ted 14 to spend the summer with Maine relatives. They traveled from Los Angeles by jet plane to visit grandparents in Portland and will visit Woodland and Osborn before returning to California in mid September.
Funeral services for John J. Marks will be held at 1.30 p.m. Thursday at Arthur F. Mayo & Son Funeral Residence. The Rockland native, born May 8, 1881, was a retired painter and paper hanger and had served Bath in local government and veteran groups. He leaves two sons, a brother and five grandchildren. Oak Grove Cemetery interment planned.
Funeral held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Curtis Funeral Home with Rev. Craig H. Richards officiating. Members of Dunlap Commandery Knights Templar attended along with Commander Ray Howe and past commanders. Burial at Hillside Cemetery Parker Head.
Funeral services for John Edward Pomeroy were conducted at 2 p m Monday at A F Mayo Son funeral residence with Rev Martin V B Sargent of Winter Street Congregational church officiating and a Masonic service. Bearers were Morse High School faculty members Raymond W Farnham Nathan W Watson Linwood A Abbott Harold E Brown Duncan H Farrell and Cecil V Rowland. Burial followed in the family lot at Oak Grove.
Mrs Harold Tobey of Providence R I spent Tuesday as a guest of Mrs Charles Hewitt and sister Mrs John O Morse at the Hewitt Summer home on Capitol Island. Also visiting was Mrs Charles Walsh of St Petersburg Fla formerly of Bath staying with Mr and Mrs Ernest Freeman.
J Edward Pomeroy 63 a sub master and mechanical drawing instructor at Morse high school died Friday at Bath Memorial hospital after a several day illness. He taught at Morse since 1922 and advised many graduating classes. He was active in amateur radio and Civil Air Patrol and a 32nd degree Mason with ties to Bath and Lewiston. He is survived by sister Louise Gowell Pomeroy Bath brother George Pomeroy Waltham cousin Mrs Henry G Shaw Bath and other relatives. His son William died in 1952.
Joseph A Ducharme 66 of Brunswick longtime Bath Iron Works employee died Tuesday night at Brunswick Community Hospital after a brief illness. Born Sept 11 1892 in Brunswick he was a ship rigger at Bath Iron Works retiring two years ago. Survived by wife Helen Caron Ducharme a daughter Cecile two sons Raymond and Robert all of Brunswick two sisters Mrs Cecil Beauregard of Portland and Mrs Alice Dubois of New Bedford Mass and five
