Proper Foundations Keep Out White Ants
The United States Department of Agriculture warns that untreated wood in contact with the ground invites termites. Proper insulation through concrete foundations or ground-free framing prevents infestation, as subterranean termites cannot survive without ground moisture. The Bureau urges building code changes to avoid earth-contact wood and to isolate any brick or timber work from soil.
