West Bath residents gathered for birthday celebrations at the Lee home with Mrs Emma Coombs of Marlboro, Mass. Other items note graduation events for Morse High School, church meetings, and residents visiting cottages at Sabino plus community picnics and civil club activities.
The Bath baseball squad travels to Togus Sunday at 2 30 P M to face Togus with Myron McNeil pitching and Capt Al Booney of Morse High as reliever. Benny Stover to catch, infield from Barrett Nichols Ray Huayward Jerry Gilmore Pete Oliver and Steve McVhee, outfielders Harold Cutting Horace Morse and Paiement a Brunswick High player. Mrs George Andrews and grandchildren Mary and Janet of Haddonfield N J pass through en route to Squirrel Island.
MacMahan Summer Colony and Bath friends announce the engagement of Theodore S. Lazell of Boston to Miss Alice Carey Kimball of Hartford. They will wed June 30 at the Hartford Cathedral with notable attendees from Bowdoin, Princeton, and the U.S. Naval Academy. Elizabeth Main granddaughter of Hon. BE Reed Main graduates from Bridge Academy as salutatorian and Lincoln Essay Medal recipient. She wore the Lincoln medal for best essay on Abraham Lincoln and led her class, with a class of 22. Graduation is at Nequasset Congregational church.
The Tuesday noon storm toppled a more than century old oak on the Drummond farm. Mrs. Helen Thompson of Taunton Massachusetts is visiting her cousin Mrs. Alice Drummond before summering in Georgetown. A baked bean supper is set for June 2 at the town hall. Several locals journeyed to Portland and Rockport for visits and picnics with family members.
A Tuesday storm blasted Bath with winds from all directions, downing trees and blowing debris through streets. A two-masted schooner drifted down the Kennebec river, risking the water pipe, but diver inspection found no damage. multiple trees fell on homes and a streetcar line was disrupted until power could be restored.
Sheriff J. Horace McClure and Medical Examiner Harry Morin investigated the discovery of a boy, about nine to eleven, found in the Androscoggin river above Pejepscot dam. The body, located by river workers Wilfred Dube Ernest George and Ellard Boucher, could not be identified and no missing child case matched. The body was moved to Harold Laws’ funeral rooms in Brunswick.
Mrs. Raymond Clark of Wortsmouth NHS attended the graduation exercises of her sister Miss Katherine Trott on Tuesday night.
