The Bar Harbor community celebrates Admiral Charles F. Hughes Maine native and naval veteran. Federation and Legion officials announced the USS Seattle would attend the Maine Legion State Convention, honoring his long service from Annapolis to flag rank and key WWI duties with the New York and Des Moines projects.

Morse High Publicizes List of Honor Pupils

Old Colonial Home in Topsham Hosts DAR Meeting

More than 45 guests attended the June meeting of the Topsham Brunswick chapter DAR at the Hildreth home Topsham over a century old. The event featured Flag Day poems, historic talks, and plans for a living Christmas tree and upcoming field days. The chapter noted patriotism efforts and praised attendees from Bath’s Colonel Dummer Sewall chapter. The gathering ended with tours of the historic site built 127 years ago and was deemed a successful year end meeting.

Two Pupils Awarded Gold Pieces for Prizes

The Bath school seventh grade at North Grammar celebrated two students receiving ten dollar gold pieces for the greatest four year improvement in scholarship character and physical development. Dorothy King and John Murray were the awardees, presented by Superintendent Clinton L. D. Wilson, reflecting on collective strive for improvement.

PAYS HIGH TRIBUTE TO MRS STAPLES FOR CARE

Alfred Randall Morse High graduate who won the Ella b E Wood prize at graduation pays tribute to Mrs Louise R Staples matron of the Orphans Home in this city. He credits her care since childhood with his success and notes the prize honors six points of wisdom justice courage temperance chivalry and industry. Randall left Monday for the Summer.
