Span one of the Kennebec bridge at Bath was set Monday morning in the presence of Governor Ridph and a large gathering. The shorter span rested near the Bath shore as spectators watched the steel work with no flaws as the Stars and Stripes and state flag flew. Water works aided landing by supplying 500 gallons per minute to float the scows, enabling them to slide into place with the tide. The governor and his party, including Mrs Brewster and sons, observed from the Ilseford as the unique operation proceeded.
