Strange Progress in Coal Miners 6 Hour Day Plan
The mine workers union seeks a 6 hour day and 30 hour week for coal miners. Currently 8 hours with 8 paid but 1 travel hour and 0.5 lunch hour reduce productive time to 6.5 hours daily. A 6 hour day would leave 4.5 productive hours daily, with overtime if a longer week is needed. Labor costs would rise, boosting coal prices and reducing demand for coal.
