Phippsburg Fire Reaches Bald Head Amid Strong Winds

In Phippsburg a fire on Bald Head, fanned by high winds, was controlled by the town and state pumpers along with 15 to 20 volunteers from Small Point Sebasco West Point and Parker Head. Several acres of pasture were burned and a Summer home of George Adams narrowly escaped damage. Fire wardens planned to remain on duty as hotspots lingered. The town’s mail service resumed with Asa Wyman overseeing the post office and store with assistance from Mrs. John Rogers and Mrs. Raymond Wyman. Rev. Orville Lozier, recently taking duties in Maine, aided Sunday services and visits to Parker Head and Small Point churches.
