E Everett Pierce arrived at his Pear street residence Sunday evening with Mrs Pierce who has been visiting relatives in Boston Philadelphia and elsewhere for a week due to cane.
Robert E. Hatch Jr. of Waltham Massachusetts stayed Sunday night with his parents Mr and Mrs Robert E Hatch at 601 Washington Street following the Gross Minott wedding in Brunswick.
The city playgrounds will open next Monday under Edward J. McMann, supervisor of recreation. Hours are 8.30 to 11.30 a.m. and 12.45 to 4.30 p.m. for children aged 4 to 14 at Goddard-Mitchell, Central Grammar, and Dike school grounds. Four supervisors will be on duty. War Bond and Stamp purchases continue in schools with Tuesday collections. Mrs. W J Osborn hosted her card club at 993 High Street Thursday afternoon.
June meeting of the Cosmo politan club drew a large turnout. Officers of the Junior Cosmopolitan club were guests and welcomed, with plans announced for a July War Bond purchase, district meetings, and a Street Fair. The program featured Bowdoin professor Tillotson discussing American music and its roots and influences.
Myrtle lodge of Odd Ladies attended the Maine U O L quarterly session in Brunswick for an all day event at Odd Fellows hall. Notable guests included Mrs. Emily McMann and Grace Sylvester with a reception and gifts, plus a large Bath contingent in attendance.
Horace Hildreth of Cumberland, president of the Maine Senate and gubernatorial hopeful, is pictured at home with his family. The feature traces his career from law to politics, noting his competitive nature and successful rise in Maine government.
The USS Thomas E. Fraser destroyer number ten of the year was launched at Bath Iron Works. Mrs. Bernadine Rita Fraser, widow of Cmdr Fraser, served as sponsor with classmates and industry leaders in attendance to honor the ship and namesake.
Democratic candidate Scott Kittredge runs in the First District primaries pledging to support President Roosevelt foreign policy and postwar Maine economic plans. He cites 15 years of business and government experience, service in the International Joint Commission, the National Emergency Council, and the Office of Government Reports, plus War Housing Center management.
Three instructors depart Bath schools as the new term begins. Edith B. Horne resigns after 19 years in Bath and 18 at Dike School. Helen Frederick and Ruth Roache Archibald also resigns, with Frederick leaving after four Bath years and Archibald after two at Huse and Mitchell/North Primary.
Nicholas Trott Locsin, son of Manuel V Locsin and his wife of New York City Mos, was born June 9. He was born before her marriage to Miss Marjorie C Trott, daughter of Milton C Trott of High Street.
