South American attractions and Buenos Aires society
In Buenos Aires the Jockey Club fuels social life with lavish yet orderly race days where tea prevails over liquor. The city showcases grand parks, statues, and European influence, while absentee landholding limits Argentine land development and sparks talks of a US style Homestead Act to unlock pampas riches. The voyage includes Kipling, the Nacion editor, and Bahia’s dual-city layout with an elevator amid a carnival atmosphere and World Fliers overhead.
