Dr Bernard A Bailey dies after fifty years in practice

Dr Bernard A Bailey 72 died after a long illness at his daughter Marjorie Prichard’s home in Miami Florida He was born in Woolwich in 1869 and graduated Dartmouth Medical School at 21 He served as acting major in the Medical Corps during World War I and received the Maine Medical Association gold medal He is survived by his wife five daughters and a son Funeral services were held at Montsweag church.

West Bath Farm Bureau members met at the Owen home in Sabine for a social day with knitting and crocheting. A picnic lunch followed a coffee service by Mrs. Owen. guests included Miss Mary L. Wright and her dog Thackie, with several members and visitors from Taunton and Beachmont, plus a Boston visit by Mrs. Edward Brown of Lemont Street.

Vacation Bible school ends with program at Center Woolwich

In Damariscotta, the Gilmore Huston house stands as a showplace with a history of a family rift. James and William Huston borrowed $200 from brothers for land, were estranged after James wed Sara Starboard, and payments were refused. Gilmore later built the mansion, and Gilmore’s son Albert eventually paid the old debt with interest after returning to find heirs and settle the matter.

West Bath Grange Plans Friday Dance and Meetings

At a regular meeting, West Bath Grange announced a Friday night dance in the hall and that the lawn committee will meet Wednesday evening. Refreshments followed a program featuring readings by Mrs. Annie Williams and Mrs. Hope Ward, a solo by Mrs. Fred K. Sturtevant, and a closing thought by Leon Genthner.
