Dinner by Parcel Post inaugurates rural meals service
A Temple Texas farmer, Joe Patcher, hosts a parcel post dinner for field workers with a 25 man threshing crew. Delivered hot to the field, the meals cost 40 cents more than the meals themselves, and the experiment claims lower total cost than cooking at home. The plan was tested after doubts about parcel post feasibility, and it reportedly proved permissible for cooked foods to be mailed.
