The Bell family, from Newton Massachusetts and New London Connecticut, were welcomed by about 100 parishioners and guests. The event featured a punch service ice cream cake and a musical program.

Leonard Brewer 86 of Boothbay Harbor may be Maine's oldest active fisherman and the honorary marshal candidate for the Maine Seafoods Festival in Rockland August 6 7 8. Brewer started lobstering at 17 and remains a trapper with his grandson Charles, fishing about 60 traps. He favors traditional gear and his 24 foot Shirley built in 1910, powered by a five horse engine, while supplying Squirrel Island summer residents. Brewer values the simple life, recalling early work, marriage, and a long career at sea.

Bean Picker Registration Days Set in Bath Woolwich Area
Approximately 350 bean pickers have been recruited in Bath Woolwich to date. More workers will be needed to harvest the Dresden crop. Bath Police Chief Moriarty Dies Suddenly at 51
Funeral services were held for Frank L. Moriarty 51 Bath chief of police who died suddenly Thursday night in Newport Vermont. He headed Bath police since 1948 and previously served as city marshal. Surviving are his wife Madelyn G and daughter Peggy plus three brothers and three sisters. He was a former member of the Bath Aerie of Eagles Elks and Knights of Columbus.

City Manager's June Report Highlights Deptarment Activity
The June Manager's Report covers Police Fire Cemetery and Park Highway and Sewer as well as new uniforms meter revenue and training. Police made 58 arrests 18 non fatal crashes and 177 complaints while meter collections reached 1086.49 with 140.50 in meter fines. Fire had seven alarms and renovation work at Central Station proceeded. Cemetery work persisted despite cement shortages with 15 burials and 45 lots regraded. Highway and Sewer focused on street surface material hauling and bituminous concrete with sand and stone quantities and traffic paint completed.
