One Bolt in Town Hits Bath During Severe Storm
A major thunderstorm swept Bath on Saturday morning with heavy rain and vivid lightning along the main line. In Winneganee the storm’s southern edge moved through while George W. Rittall’s brick residence on upper Washington Street suffered a direct strike damaging shingles, a 6x6 beam, ceiling, and electrical fuses, with smoke and gas filling the room. The bolt also silenced the yard wireless gear and cut power to lights. Rittall, long wary of storms, has endured lightning in the past at Al Minott’s home.

Monmouth Bible Class Moves Cradle of Methodism
The Men’s Bible Class of the Methodist Church in Monmouth led by Henry H. Cochrane seeks to move and preserve the 1799 Cradle of Methodism building to the church yard. L. B. Long will build a residence on the site, cost estimated at 1500 dollars. Rev. James R. Day and the Maine Methodist Conference support the project, which would keep the tavern’s upper room as a museum and convert the rest into Asbury Memorial classrooms.
