Bath Chronicle recalls 1899 Fourth of July and local events

Forty years ago Bat historians recapture a day of mishaps and small town doings. Mrs Hattie Rollins fell from a Brunswick car on Front Street, winding up shaken and fearing internal injuries while others mark flag raisings, yacht voyages, and repairs around Winnegance Center. A serious accident to Howard Hunt dampened festivities as cannon powder misfired. The era’s bustle includes boat arrivals, property remodels, engagements, and civic chatter as Bath residents observe summer events.
