Mr and Mrs Ralph E Sanborn of 356 Middle Street showcase a lush garden from mid April through late fall with over 100 varieties. The yard features rhododendrons peonies irises lilies delphiniums hydrangeas and roses including Silver Moon and Mary Walker along with the notable Golden Rose of China and a 25 foot Chinese Elm. The couple moved from Massachusetts to Bath Maine in 1931 seeking a milder winter and enjoy daily gardening together though health limits Mr Sanborn now. Neighbors and visitors frequently admire the blooms and the birds and bees that visit the vibrant yard.
