Bush of Barre charged with passing on a hill and Haupt of Kew Gardens cited for running a traffic light. Edward Coffin faced truck brake violations and a Bath resident received penalties for prior intoxication.
Nicholas Gianibas 52 proprietor of Kennebec Fruit Co. suffered internal injuries and possible broken ribs when a 1936 Dodge truck overturned on the Portland road near Mill Creek Falmouth Friday. He was en route to Portland to pick up produce. the truck left the road and rolled over striking its top. Joseph Pecci Bath drove him to Dr. John S. Milliken’s residence in Portland for evaluation. Gianibas later returned to Bath for X rays. He resumed limited activity Saturday morning, but declined to work due to pain and shock.
Alfred A. Parks scored a hole in one on the fourth at Bath Country Club last week. His tee shot landed on the green and was later found in the cup by a club member, marking the first ace of the season at the course. Wesley Marco has two aces in past seasons, and Bill Partington has one.
A meritorious half hour program by Charlotte's School of Dancing followed the comedy The Gracie Allen Murder Case. Harold Armes, 12, son of Mr and Mrs Harold E Armes of 700 High Street, finished fourth in the Portland Soap Box Derby. Sponsored by Pilgrim Chevrolet Co of Bath, his red white and blue entry with white mudguards drew praise on the Saturday broadcast. He reached the semi finals, marking Bath’s strong showing this year. In school news, Jay High School has named Frank G Stone principal, succeeding at Dover Foxcroft Academy.
William B. Kendall a Bath native and longtime Bowdoinham resident died July 6 at his summer home in Old Orchard Beach. He served in the Maine House of Representatives, led Sagadahoc Fertilizer Co., supported local pupils with apples, raised sheep, and devoted time to Maine and Sagadahoc history. His funeral was held July 9 in Bowdoinham.
Evidence shows an unsuccessful break in at Roscoe P. and Mrs. McFadden’s residence 1023 Middle Street. The thief bent the night latch key and damaged the front door lock, with a similar attempt reported at another home that same night.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court granted restoration to practice in Maine courts to disbarred attorney Gerry L Brooks of Portland as of Wednesday. Brooks had been unable to practice for nearly eight years since disbarment on Oct. 3, 1991 after misconduct. two prior reinstatement petitions were denied.
A community lawn party on July 29 offers a penny-per-section sweepstakes with a prize of a General Electric radio valued at fifty dollars. The event lists leaders in the girls division including Jean M and Cynthia Moses with several others, and boys leaders are noted as well.
Forty four members and guests attended the Scotch night at Bath Country Club with golf and a dinner. Green fees were free. Each member played with a guest in a one-ball team format. Low gross winners were L Buck and D Wilson. Low net winners were Price and Haydon. High gross was shared by R Luke with C Churchill and H Eldred with P Miller. Each winner received a new golf ball.
Memorial hospital trustees held their monthly meeting in the municipal building to discuss joining the Associated Hospital Service. Nurses who recently graduated thanked the trustees for flowers, and the board voted thanks to Grace Church for furniture, P M Olm for flowers, and the Junior Hospital League for a new staff shower.
Capt Richard Quick of Washington Street has purchased Daniel E Kelley’s property at King’s Point on the New Meadows River below Rosedale. He and Mrs Quick plan to move there to spend the rest of the summer.
Harold Pinkham of Five Islands struck a deer crossing Georgetown Road while en route to Bath on Friday morning. The animal appeared in front of the car and disappeared into the woods before he could stop. A search was underway to determine if the deer was injured or suffering.
A 25 by 10 foot sand mound blocks the Kennebec river bed work for Bath Water District 16 inch main. 862 feet of pipe laid before mound interruption. dredging planned to remove obstacle. Tide shifts caused sand buildup and contractors hope to finish by September 6 despite delays.
Five tables of bridge and three of whist were played at the Sagadahoc Ferry Good Will club weekly public party. High bridge scores went to Mrs. Wilbur Crocker and Nelson R. Rice, and high whist to Mrs. Arthur C. Orr and Edward J. Lee. Low scorers included Mrs. Ida M. Beals, Harvey P. Hathorne, Mrs. Edward Reed, and Lawrence H. Putnam. Strawberry short cake and coffee were served.
Troop No. 55 of the Boy Scouts of America held its court of honor last Wednesday in the Winter Street church men's parlor. Edwin R. Andrews deputy Bath district commissioner Cecil L. Fullerton and Fred J. Higgins attended. Forest George Cunningham advanced to First Class Scout while Robert Earl Lawrence Joseph Everett Swanton and Kenneth Rupert Wilson became Second Class Scouts.
About 20 altar boys from St. Mary's church enjoyed a beach picnic at Small Point on Wednesday. Accompanied by Rev. David P. Surette they left Bath on a truck and spent the day swimming, playing darts and ball games before returning to Bath after five in the afternoon.
