Paint theft busted at Woolwich under dyke bridge
Sheriff Albert Henderson recovered all aluminum paint stolen from a Woolwich shack near the dyke overhead bridge. Two boys confessed to the theft but denied two other missing cans. later clues led to recovering those as well. Court action uncertain due to the youth of the suspects.

Ernest A Allan 58 of Topsham a Maine Legislator and former Bath citizen died at 1240 Tuesday in Brunswick hospital after a sudden illness. A standout member of the 87th Legislature he served as assistant to Democratic floor leader John Clark Scates and was named to the Judicial Council to study Maine's judiciary. Born in Washington DC he worked at Bath Iron Works before returning to Maine. He supported Topsham and Sagadahoc county through Recovery Act projects and won broad support in a bid for reelection last September.
