New Meadows Regatta Association Dedicates Float Site
The New Meadows Regatta Association formally dedicated its new float off Rich's Mountain amid perfect weather. Commodore Elmer B. Williams presided, Carl H. Pinson outlined the building effort, and Mrs. Williams cut the tape. The group, with about 80 members, funded the land purchase with five dollar bonds and plans weekly sail and motorboat races each Sunday, with Alvah Morse winning the first race followed by Emery Freeman and others.

Bath man charged in fatal Bath street collision
Harold Babine 27 of Bath was killed when an automobile allegedly struck him on Washington street near Bath Iron Works. Ralph G. Stetson Jr. 23 of Bath was arrested on manslaughter charges and released on $5,000 bond awaiting arraignment. The death car, a 1950 Ford Tudor, was impounded.

Woolwich Celebrates Glorious Fourth With Fireworks
About 1500 people attended a Woolwich Athletic Association fireworks display at Coffee Potfield Woolwich on Tuesday night to support the Woolwich school children’s athletic program. Fireworks lit the sky from 9 p.m. for over an hour as volunteers organized the show with set pieces aerial bombs and parachute flares drawing crowds from Woolwich Bath and nearby towns. Parking and concessions drew large crowds with hundreds of cars and trucks arriving from 7 p.m. for space and entertainment. The event praised as the best yet was organized by Hil ton Soule Alice Baker Ivory Strout and Sam Soule among others who led the fireworks committee grounds committee and association leadership.

Drivers Pay Fines For Traffic Infractions
Edgar L. Stinson of Brunswick pleaded guilty to operating a car without adequate brakes and paid a 5.00 fine plus 4.70 costs in municipal court.
