Endowment drive to fund Legion child welfare and veteran care
The American Legion launches a $5,000,000 Endowment Fund to support orphaned children of veterans and relief for wounded and disabled soldiers. The fund backs cottage billets, not large homes, with income about $225,000 yearly to sustain disabled veterans' rehabilitation and child welfare programs nationwide. The Legion stresses private funding as government aid falls short for full justice.
