A Bath Chamber of Commerce meeting at the YMCA discussed Texas Company support for a rail connection from the M C R R terminus opposite Read Nichols Co. on Commercial Street to the Sewall shipyard on Front Street to serve soon to be built steamers. The Lewiston Augusta Waterville Street Railway estimates about $6000 for the track, with Texas Co. bearing costs via refunded traffic if rights of way are secured on Commercial and Front Streets and adjacent private property. A committee under President Harriman was appointed to negotiate permits and coordinate with parties. The group welcomed the prospect of a Bath plant and pledged support.
