Night Supervisor Falls Into Elevator Well
Miss Josephine Moore a night supervisor at Bath Memorial hospital escaped with a fracture of the right wrist and multiple cuts after falling into the elevator well just after midnight. She had entered to turn on a light for moving a maternity patient to the third floor, believing the car was on the first floor. She fell to the bottom three feet below the basement level. Dr A A Stott found a broken wrist and facial injuries.

Heavy sea at Popham threatens riverside cottages
A heavy sea ran at the Kennebec mouth with a stiff southeasterly wind and enormous waves. Tides were lower than last week, likely sparing river front and south shore cottages from damage. Coast Guardsmen reported thick fog with Seguin Island totally obscured and Pond Island barely visible.

Ship atop Davenport City hall collapses in southeast gale
A three-masted copper replica ship on Davenport City hall dome fell about 30 feet when a steel rod at the joint snapped during a southeast storm. The 90 pound copper figure damaged the bow and bent the spar but caused limited damage to the building and injuries.
