Colonial Club Mock Trials Delight Members
Nearly 100 Colonial club members attended a mock trial in the club rooms on Monday evening. Judge Eugene Desmond presided as Cap Merrill faced a charge of abusive language and ungentlemanly conduct, with Parson Wolstenholme as prosecutor and Clinton D. Wilson for the defense. Merrill was found not guilty after a swift two minute jury deliberation, amid cheers and a playful celebration. Reggie Stacy faced slander charges with Dr. Paul A. Gregware testifying to Stacy’s supposed “moron” brain. Wilson defended Stacy, joking about a billiard-ball mishap in 1920. The trial ended with Stacy sentenced to pool, while Haggett faced the final case and claimed not to be interested.
