Engineer Rodick Proves Big Hearted on Bath Train
Harris T. Rodick Maine Central engineer proved considerate of animals and humans alike when saving a police puppy on train 78 from Rockland to Bath. He slowed the locomotive to avoid harming the dog as it followed its young companions toward the Kennebec bridge. The dog crossed toward Woolwich shore but was driven back. Rodick then directed the train to the lower deck and, as the dog neared Bath, blew two whistle blasts causing the animal to leap ashore safely. The grateful owners praised his actions today.

Couture Arrested on Liquor Charges
Fred Couture of West Bowdoin was arrested by Federal Agents Chester Marr and Thomas Burgess on liquor violations. Two gallons of alcohol were seized at Couture's home. He was arraigned in Portland and furnished bonds of 1000 for the April term. This marked his fourth Sheriff Henderson arrest and third Federal arrest for liquor violations.
