Funeral Services for Harold O Wagner Held at Home
The funeral for Harold O Wagner, shot on New Year’s Eve, was held Saturday at his parents’ home with Rev. David L Wilson officiating. Bearers included four Wagner brothers and Ches ter Rines, among others. Burial followed at Oak Grove. Augustus Levy of Rockland sought an understudy role with Eddie Cantor and received a polite yet firm rejection advising him to stay away from New York where 11,000 actors are unemployed.

The Old Ladies' Home held its annual New Year’s Pound Party with a $1000 gift from the Davenport estate and nearly $1200 raised. The Christmas gift was announced on New Year’s Day and guests donated many food items. Board members Mrs. Dunton and Mrs. Barker led arrangements, while Mrs. Hatch and others served. Attendees included Agnes Humphreys and several Mrs. Spear, Irish, Lord, Newell, and Moses. Checks of five dollars were given to residents from a special fund. Attendance was large, with more male guests than before.

A Christmas program at Montsweag Church on Friday December 26 drew a full house. Performances included singing recitations pantomimes and several songs by Mountain Road School students and by Elsie and Fernald Bailey and Gertrude Murphy.
