No third election seen for CIO Local No 4 at Bath Iron Works

A Bath Iron Works advisory source says Local No 4 of the CIO Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of America is unlikely to seek a third election. He argues the union should first win a clear majority of bona fide, paid up Iron Works employees before the company will recognize it for collective bargaining. He downplays 1940 bonus unrest as irrelevant to future success. Local No 4 previously failed in 1938 with 819 to 861 votes and again in 1940 with 1,145 for and 1,153 against.
