Fishery By-Products Value for Dairy and Poultry Feeds
Dr. W. F. Dove of the Maine Agricultural Experiment Station argues that using fish by-products to enrich feeds could reduce rickets in Maine citizens. Feeding hens and cows vitamin D improves eggs and milk, while fish meal offers a cost effective protein source with added vitamin D. The study suggests Maine fisheries gain income and animal feeders gain cheaper nutrition, addressing the state's rickets problem.
