Striking bluish light over Seguin and Pond Islands observed
Popham Beach Coast Guard surfmen report a sudden bluish light lighting Seguin and Pond Islands and the coast for about twenty seconds Monday night at nine. Clifton Morong, Leeman Drake, and Henry Leonard witnessed the phenomenon from the west end of the boat and the tower, attributing it to a meteor flash without seeing the meteor itself.

Past Presidents Night in Bath Eagles Aerie Marks Initiation
Bath Aerie of Eagles will observe Past Presidents Night on Tuesday March 10 with the Edward T Whitehouse class of candidates to be initiated, likely the largest in the Aerie history. Sunday before, memorial services will honor 63 deceased members. Easter Ball proceeds go to perpetual care of the Eagles Lot at Oak Grove. At the Rotary luncheon in Hotel Phoenix Tuesday no formal speaker due to a misunderstanding but the Winter Carnival committees reported. Clinton D. Wilson chaired the Queen committee with receipts of 270 dollars. Thomas R. Huston reported 533.12 from the Carnival ball, totaling 803.12. Expenses ran about 700, leaving net proceeds near 100 to add to the Rotary playground fund. The snowstorm raised costs as clubs were entertained overnight. over 100 dollars was spent rebuilding the ski jump. Dr. F. A. Winchenbach praised the club and Bath residents. suggestion to limit Queen contestants to Morse High School girls and expand the program to two days. Next week a music program led by Fred D. Hill and John H. Grindell’s orchestra. Mrs. Irving Brown, home with daughter and son-in-law, Melvin Ferris, Park Street, is up again after a four-week illness.

Maurice R. Deering, 35, died by his own shotgun at 37 Park Street shortly before 11 PM Monday after an evening of cards with his wife. Police and medical examiner ruled it instantaneous. death linked to worry over his health and a prior shock from the death of golf friend John H. Hyde.
