Union of Clubs Met in Cosmopolitan Club House
The Maine Progressive Union of Clubs met Friday at Cosmopolitan club house 894 Washington Street. Over 50 attended including Mrs May belle H Brown Waterville president of the Maine Federation of Women's clubs and Rev Charles S Sowder First Church Wiscasset. Mrs Brown spoke in the afternoon and Mr Sowder on bees. A Valentine day luncheon followed with decorations and gifts, officers elected for the year, and a program led by Mrs Leroy Colby.

Bath Red Cross life saving report outlines 1935 summer
Duncan H. Farrell reports for the Bath chapter of the American Red Cross on a ten week summer program in 1935 with 6610 attendees and 5000 plus in swimming instruction. Ninety four learned life saving. twenty four earned Junior certificates. ten earned Senior certificates. 52 passed swimmers test. thirty eight passed beginners test. Eight children were pulled from water with one needing emergency care and no deaths. First week funded by FEMA later weeks free. seniors volunteered thereafter.

Home Inspection Campaign In Bath Aimed At Accident Prevention
Stella Dolloff reports Bath Red Cross launched a home safety survey in October with 19 schools participating. 2223 blanks issued, 905 returned, identifying hazards likely to cause falls fires asphyxiation poisoning electrical shock and burns and cuts. The program emphasizes education to reduce risk and prevent suffering and death.

Thrift Shop Report Highlights Community Drive and Volunteers
Mrs. Arthur Sewall II presents the Thrift Shop report noting it opened mid June and ran twice weekly through October. Thanks to rent-free support from Oliver Moses the shop netted about 150 dollars with no expenses while offering low and flexible prices to aid the Red Cross. Volunteers are invited for a larger summer operation.

Mary Newell presents volunteer service data with six volunteers logging 138 hours at Baby Conferences. Six volunteers transported 69 babies with mothers to the Red Cross office. Seven trips to Portland moved children and adults to the Children's Hospital and Dispensary. A volunteer created wall graphs tracking Nursing and Welfare visits for 1933 34 and 35. Regional Bath conference hosted six hostesses and 20 volunteers. Mrs Arthur Sewall II organized tea after meetings. Wins led the annual Roll Call drive with about 40 volunteers. The Bath Rotary weekly luncheon at Hotel Phoenix featured Senator N Gratz Jackson introducing new member George A Evison the druggist. Carl Kennedy welcomed back after an ankle injury. Dr Winchenbach updated on the Winter Sports Carnival and ball with praise for his efforts. Remaining notes include a pending financial statement and a report of $21350 spent last year on South End tennis courts and equipment.

Gladys Comeau Wins Winter Carnival Queen Contest by Wide Margin
Miss Gladys M Comeau, Bath Opera House cashier, won the 1936 Winter Carnival Queen title by about 20 500 votes over Miss Elizabeth Colby. Marilyn Hatch placed third as Clinton D Wilson tabulated votes, with coronation planned at the high school gym. The event included ticket sales bonuses and prize money for the top contestants. A separate note reports Pres Arthur A Hauck of the University of Maine announcing a valuable natural history collection bearing a name Allen, donated by Mrs Matileea of Oro no.

Miss G M Comeau was crowned Queen of Bath Rotary Winter Carnival held at Morse High School gym despite a heavy snowstorm. Alan L. Bird of Rockland placed the crown. runners up were A Elizabeth Colby Marilyn Hatch and Dorothy Renaud. The event featured an amateur show, music by local bands, and festive decorations as community leaders praised youth sports and good character.
