In the fourth week of Central Grammar School’s campaign, eighth grade donors Eric Bartholemy Riva Divia Greenblatt Chloe Deraps Trustum Wentworth and Pearl Taylor delivered magazines puzzles and baked goods for soldiers at the Armory. Grade six makers Donald Staples and Donald McRae also contributed puzzles. Mrs. Granville Colby directs the Red Cross effort and requests donations of good condition card tables. A Central Maine Power Co line crew from Augusta has worked in Bath for weeks installing new power lines for the Hyde Park Terrace Federal housing project at Perryfield on Center street. The existing line could not support the added load of 200 new housing units. Three workers Am brose Lynch Earl Hayden and Abraham Bradstreet are familiar figures in Bath from 1935 36 when the company switched from gas to all electric service.

Blaze at Gibbons Coal Co Wharf Building

Winter Conference of Maine Garden Clubs Held in Augusta

Teachers' School to Open February Seventeenth
The Bath Ministers' Association sponsors a weekly teachers' school starting February 17 and running Tuesdays through March 17 from seven to nine evenings. Courses include methods for primary and junior teachers, intermediate teachers, teaching adults, and Parents and the Sunday School. Dresden Young Man Stationed At Manila When War Broke Out
Christmas cards tell of P F C Warren H Leask mailed from Manila two weeks before the Pearl Harbor attack. In a letter to his Dresden parents Mr and Mrs Thomas Leask, he says he is fine and asks not to worry. Leask, a Bridge Academy 1939 graduate, enlisted in the U S Army in November with classmate Lennie Robbins from Dresden. Robbins, formerly employed in Bath, and Adelbert Barter, son of Mr and Mrs Sidney Barter, are also in Hawaii.

The Reconstruction Finance Corp transfers ownership from Ceramic Feldspar Co. of Bath to Ann Elizabeth Hughes of Jersey City. The Reedship yard area at the South End, once connected to the L. A. & W. line, changed hands after years of ground feldspar operations. The sale follows prior mortgage to the RFC to secure funds as the plant faced financial trouble and the project also notes WPA crews ending work at the airport in Brunswick.
