Bath Fire Dept to get new trucks and boxes
Friday's federal approval will bring Bath a one man 65 foot aerial ladder truck a 750 gpm pumper twelve new type three fold fire alarm boxes and four miles of copper wire The ladder truck will be housed at Central station replacing the current unit and a new pumper will take Engine Four's place with Engine Three moving to Shepard Street The new alarm boxes feature simultaneous ring and rapid secondary alarm and are slated for strategic street locations city wide The copper wire will replace obsolete iron wire and support the new alarm system City officials praised the effort led by Mayor Rogers Attorney Carey City Treasurer Young and the Fire Department Committee with plans including notification of further project releases

Alderman J Frank Hunt presented him with secretary Miss Bessie E Dickinson casting the ballot. Rogers faces Democrat Alex Burgess Jr next month as the campaign unfolds with few attendees present.

Winter Street Auxiliary entertained the Men's club of Winter Street church Tuesday night with a turkey supper in the ladies room. About 85 members, wives and husbands attended the annual event. Bath Hero Lieut Huse Becomes Local War Casualty
The War Department announced the death of 1st Lieut. John E. L. Huse Air Corps U S A on Feb 3 1942. Born Bath May 2 1916 he starred at Morse High School and U S Military Academy prep, earning cadet lieutenant honors. He married Nell Sample of Hartselle Ala in 1940 and trained as a pilot before deployment to the Pacific theater. His passing deeply grieves his family and Bath’s community, marking the first local war casualty known.

Watts presented Bath Iron Works with the Navy E pennant and the Bureau of Ships flag at a ceremony at the shipyard attended by Navy officials, executives, and about 3,500 workers. Mayor Rogers, Governor Sewall, and union leaders praised the firm for its shipbuilding excellence and commitment to liberty and production. Barbara Madden is recovering from measles.
