A fire destroyed the Merrifield residence on the state road two miles south of Richmond Corner Tuesday noon. Mrs. Merrifield escaped from bed to call for help as the barn and furniture were saved. The blaze, sparked from a chimney, left her in a serious condition after evacuation to neighbors. Theodore F. Goldmark and daughter Doris, visiting from New York, arrived Saturday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Orr.
