A Ford sedan owned by Walter E Millett and driven by Ralph Millett struck a telegraph pole on Bath Brunswick road. Richard Atkinson 22 Newport News Va severely injured with tongue loss and neck lacerations. Other passengers Ralph D Millett 20 Walter E Millett 30 and Frank Witawski 21 treated for injuries. driver reportedly not critically hurt. Police say machine failed to negotiate top of hill near Mill pond. Authorities report multiple serious injuries within Bath area this month.

Explosion and Fire At Bath Gas Plant Injures Foreman
An explosion and fire in the machinery room at Central Maine Power Co. gas plant sent Donald S. Peters, 25, of 163 Court Street, to Bath Memorial Hospital with severe burns. Foreman Peters, found ablaze at the door, was saved by foreman Jack Presley who beat out the flames. Firemen used a foamite generator and quick actions prevented wider danger, with no gas service disruption.

Bath and vicinity escaped the worst of the statewide storm but suffered damage and travel delays. A Standard Oil truck crashed and burned at Nequasset. a phosphate truck overturned at Mill pond hill. minor collisions occurred on Oak and Winter streets. Two Rockland basketball players’ cars left the road en route to Bath, forcing the Morse game to be canceled. Smelt shanties along Whiskeag and Winnegance creeks were blown away with several wrecked beyond repair. Winnegance camps faced heavy damage at the old mill dam. Rescue at Whiskeag Creek Captures Hagan by Harmon Brothers
Capt Proctor A Hagan 78 of 105 Winship Street was saved from drowning when Merle E Harmon 23 and Norwood Harmon of 16 Mechanic Street used a rope lassoo to pull him from ice in Whiskeag Creek. They cast from 200 feet away as he fell through near the old mill site. Medical staff treated exposure and Hagan recovered at home. Merle praised the first cast as luck.
