A chance meeting during the summer of 55 years ago led to the Sunday marriage in Warner New Hampshire of Rev. George Reuben Locke pastor emeritus of South Braintree Massachusetts and Mrs Lora Edith Brown Courser formerly of Bath Maine. The couple wed after the morning service in the Congregational church, with Rev Alexander L Chandler officiating. Mrs Courser, widow of Pred W Courser, had extensive Maine New Hampshire land holdings and was active in Central church and PTA affairs. Locke, a widower, served churches across Massachusetts before settling in South Braintree.

A Friday evening drill and dance at the new State Armory raised enough funds to cover the initial cost of resurfacing the floor and installing equipment for a basketball court and indoor games. Battery H sponsors the weekly event to finance the city recreation program for boys and girls, with possible support from the National Youth Administration as Charles Hewitt visits Bath this week.

Battery H 240th C A C hosted 600 at a competitive drill and dance in Bath New State Armory. Sergt Harvey Rowe led the winning Battery H platoon while Batteries G and I from Brunswick and South Portland competed. Col Henry W. Owen Jr and Capt Gilbert with Lieut Walker judged. Doc Harmon orchestra played for 300 couples as the drill paused midway for the award. Proceeds fund the armory as a recreation center for Bath youths. Local committee included 2nd Lieut John E. Madden Sergt Harold J. Carter and Sergt Calvin Kimball.

No Night Parking On City Streets

Police in Bangor report two of three men held for 75 Maine break-ins over two years confessed to the Bath attempt on Sunday night August 28 1938 at the Maine Central Railroad office. Albert Christie head of railroad police and C K Smith FBI agent notified Bath officials that two men admitted drilling near the safe combination with an electric drill and twisting the handle with a large Stilson wrench. an inner steel section foiled the break. The three suspects are Russell B Thomas 53 Waterville John Sheehy 34 Brunswick and Robert Sites 23 Bangor.
