Singing quilt idea originates with a Phippsburg woman

Mrs. James Wyman of West Point created a singing quilt for a Phippsburg Welfare Club gathering at Bodwell Grange Hall. Each 15 by 15 inch square depicted a known song, starting with Kate Smith's Moon Comes Over the Mountain. The project inspired others to make similar quilts and the club aids town residents, clothing children, and maintains road signs.
