Barbara Cooney of Waldoboro has released a new book titled King of Wreck Island. Bath friends received autographed copies. Cooney both wrote the story and created the black and white illustrations.
Mrs Herbert King and her daughter Miss Edith King traveled to Orono for the wedding of Everett L Brewer of Portland to Edith B Hill of Orono. The ceremony occurred at the Hill home with a reception. Hill is a chemistry instructor at the University of Maine.

Evghill Garden City Long Island reports the destroyer bearing the name of Rear Admiral George Foster Emmons. Emmons, born August 23 1811 in Clarendon Vermont died July 2 1884 in Princeton New Jersey, trained at the Naval Academy from 1828, served in the South Sea expedition, Mexican war, Civil War actions at Cedar Keys and Pass Christian, commanded fleet under Dahlgren off Charleston, raised the American flag over Alaska in 1868, and authored The Navy of the United States 1775 1853.
Mrs. Owen Prothero of Richmond and her daughter Miss Polly will entertain the Cosmopolitan club on Wednesday September 3. They recently toured the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico and plan to share souvenirs and stories. Polly will perform a native costume dance. Mrs. Charles W. Messenger chairs the program with assistance from Mrs. Morris Spovich and Miss Margaret Mulligan. Refreshments hosted by Mrs. Lloyd Steeves with help from Mrs. William M. Adams and Mrs. Jacob Smith. Mrs. Guy H. Crosby leads the philanthropic committee.
Jeannine Bisson daughter of Mr and Mrs Lucien Bisson 648 High street returns Sunday to Biddeford to enter the fifth grade at Stella Maris Convent which she attended last year. She has been spending vacation with her parents.
