The Fifth Annual Pastime Horse Show at Pastime Saddle Farm West Bath drew over 500 people and 140 entries across 19 classes. Kentucky Bozo, owned by L. C. Andrew of Portland, led with multiple blue ribbons while Dixiana Wonder from Cape Elizabeth contested top honors in several events.

The Bath Iron Works Corp. won contracts to build two 1,500 ton destroyers for the Navy at a total of 8.686 million dollars, with five destroyers under construction at the Bath yard within a year. Archibald M. Main said 2,000 workers could be employed within 12 to 18 months, surpassing wartime Bath employment records. The two new ships will be hulls 170 and 171, bringing Bath’s total hulls to 54.

In a massive Bath Iron Works field day and clambake at West Bath's Brown's Field 1300 workers and 100 guests enjoyed a full day of land and water sports. The Reds dominated contests including baseball soccer and tug of war while Gov. Brann praised the shipyard and celebrated a destroyer speed record. The event opened with a 30 piece band and ended with a large clambake hosted by Joseph W. Larrabee and team.
