Old City Hall Bricks Reused in Grant Store
Bricks from the old city hall walls are being recycled for the new W. T. Grant store at Water and Center streets. Contractor Roscoe G. Bailey razed the century old building, cleared it, and stored bricks on North street before selling them to the builder for backers in the new structure. The bricks are in perfect condition and not part of the 40 000 fire proof bricks used in the walls. Mrs. Theodore W. Pease of Washington street returned Saturday after weeks in Thomaston.

Moonlight Sail on the Virginia Ends Island Summer Fun
Moonlight sail aboard the Virginia from MacMahan Island featured about 80 attendees including Mr. and Mrs. J Clifford Woodhull of Summit New Jersey and Mr. and Mrs. James S Rogers of Haverford Pennsylvania. The two hour voyage visited Newagen Damiscore Island Linekin Bay Boothbay Harbor and Townsends Gut with children singing and crowds enjoying chocolates marshmallows cigars and cigarettes. The event marked the end of weekly island entertainments and reflected strong cottage participation and plans to resume next season.
