The South End P T A cleared 63 dollars at its first lawn party held on Mitchell school grounds High and Weeks. A parade of horrors and a dart of prizes showcased a fish pond and doll carriage procession led by Mrs Lilian Haymes. Prize ribbons went to Mrs Hewitt Morse Small Hunt. Marilyn Towne won a doll prize. Patricia and Dennis Smith won second prizes. Eleanor McRae earned third.

Douglas Dearborn Captures 236 Pound Tuna Off Maine Coast
Douglas Dearborn, a longtime New York sportsman in the Small Point summer colony, hooked and landed a 236 pound tuna after a 3 hour 47 minute battle aboard the yacht Al piloted by Amos Wallace and with Sumner Sewall as host. The catch occurred six miles off Half Way Rock near Casco Bay, as Dearborn and Sewall fended off a powerful fish with patient line handling. Dearborn plans to order a similar boat from designer Charles Gomez after this thrilling outing.

Harvard's Station Fades as Overpass Rises
The Harvard's crossing project near Bowdoinham and Richmond will replace the old Harvard's station with an overhead Maine Central bridge. The former station and 1890 house will be torn down, ending an era of a small railway community once centered there. The project by Hector J. Cyr Construction of Waterville will add long approaches and integrate a new bridge into the Bowdoinham approach.
