Catskill Midgets Retire From the Stage
A New York Sun report recalls three European vaudeville midgets who built a white blue shuttered home in a Catskills meadow above Phoenicia. They planned a grand barn costing 10000 dollars yet kept only a single donkey in the vast space. The trio later left, and their house became a fishermen’s lodge by Esopus Valley.
