Pioneer woman built pickling empire in Richmond
Ellen G. Kidd of Richmond Virginia rose from kitchen beginnings to head a national pickling firm. Starting in 1872 with a neighbor’s order she grew a barrel and kettle operation into a multi state manufacturing business with Pullman orders and Seattle shipments. By mid century her company reached over 500000 dollars in annual sales and a global distribution network. Now retired, she remains an active industry figure and example of sustained leadership.
