Portland man arraigned on embezzling stock from Richmond woman

George J. Jason formerly a bond salesman in Maine was arraigned in Bath and faces a September 9 continuation on charges of embezzling 38 shares of Oxford Taper Co. stock worth about 600 dollars from Ida L. Swindle-tail Shark Taken Off Seguin Exhibited in Bath

A 12 foot swindle-tail shark weighing over 400 pounds was caught off Seguin by Chester, Alfred and Earl MacMahan while hand-lining for cod. After a two hour battle, Use monster was killed by gunshot when brought to a boat. The shark had large pectoral fins and a dark blue rough skin.

Dayton Cyclists Pass Through Bath on Quebec Trip

Dayton cyclists James Moffett Richard Eggleston Donald Young and James Oblinger left Dayton August 9 on a motorcycle journey to Quebec averaging 300 miles daily. They stopped in Washington Atlantic City New York and Bath plan to ride to Quebec reach there early evening then return to Dayton via Montreal and Niagara Falls carrying camping gear and pitching tents.

Civil War Vets Meet This Week For First Time

Two 89 and 88 year old Civil War veterans from Weymouth and Richmond met aboard the steamer Virginia in Bath. They enlisted the same day in August 1862, marched near Richmond, were wounded, fought at Petersburg and Wilderness, and were discharged on the same day in July 1865. Capt. Walter Farmer hosted them as strangers who shared a remarkable fate.
