Topsham Mill Worker Killed After 25 Foot Fall
George E. Belanger 50, formerly of Bath, fell from a platform 25 feet to the mill floor at Consolidate Feldspar Corp. in Topsham while assisting William Groves to remove a belt. He died 30 minutes later. Belanger, known locally for Bath bakery and fish business, lived in Topsham with his wife Cora and two sons Edward and Merton. He was start of night shift at 4 p.m. and was aided by Dr. Fosick of Brunswick. He was buried with family surviving siblings and a granddaughter Jean of Topsham.

Cap’n Chaney Albion K Chaney observed his 82nd birthday in Bath on August 11 1849 born in North Whitefield he built a long career from schoolteacher to seaman and shipbuilder retiring five years ago from the Iron Works now active in city life He joined the Three Quarter Century club in 1924 and remains engaged in walking dancing and community work with five local children and a daughter Ethel Bruce living with him.

We describe Wiscasset Maine Open House Day held in rainy weather with 14 homes and three public buildings open for tours. Volunteers from the Village Improvement Society and the public library guided visitors, served lunch and tea, and collected proceeds to support the library and village projects. The event raised substantial funds in prior years, supports tree care, and helps the library, which remains open daily except Mondays and has a growing circulation.
