Pioneer Tale Recalled From Old Topsham Story

Mrs. Sarah A. Robinson of Topsham recalls a pioneer era tale inspired by a Brunswick Record note about a sign at St. Onge's store. The story centers on Robert Dunlap crossing the river, mowing grain to hide from Indians, a plover, and a dangerous escape by boat, ending with a warning from a peaceful Indian trader. Gerald Tremain and family arrived in Westheld, N. J., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Tremain.
