Bath citizens will vote on September 11 at the state election on whether to accept the act creating the Bath School District. The measure, drafted and passed Feb 9 1949 by the 94th State legislature, would form a district governed by five Bath residents. The Citizens School Planning committee urged the district’s formation to improve facilities and replace unsafe buildings.

Captain Hitchcock Not Retiring From Navy Service
Captain Russell S. Hitchcock USN supervisor of shipbuilding for Maine based in Bath will not retire. Navy orders keep him on duty indefinably after 38 years service with seven and a half years in his Maine post. He had planned to retire August 31 and take a European trip with his wife, then a Bath home, but continues on current duties.

Bath's Junior Legion team captured the 1950 Maine state championship at Togus by defeating Augusta 7-5. The Bath squad, led by Bill Johnson, completed a three-title run and advances to the U S Regional No 1 Tournament in Manchester New Hampshire August 19–22, facing Vermont New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
