The Front Street store, part of Gen. McLellan’s Bath empire, changed hands from Alcide Bernier to W. T. Grant interests and then to Eastern Gas & Appliance Co. The piece outlines property bounds, a private right of way, and a north shore well. McLellan, born 1777 in Gorham, was a noted shipbuilder, Methodist founder, and Bath leader who hosted clergy at his hilltop home and served as a Massachusetts legislator and militia general. The store later housed Bath Bottling Co., a bakery, and was used as a Grant storehouse.
