Executive committee of Bath chapter American Red Cross met Monday of last week with Rev. Louis A. Dole presiding. Reports by Mrs. Carl Albee and Miss Alice Norris covered treasurer and nursing activity including 31 new patients and 136 visits. Easter canteen dinner at State armory supported Bath and Wiscasset rifle teams with Motor Corps aid.

The Bath Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held its semi annual meeting at Stone House with strong attendance. President Mrs. Edwin M Fuller Jr led the session assisted by secretary Mrs Herbert Cavanaugh. Reports covered dues donations and the year’s work, with a total income of 3564.13 and expenses of 1209.26 leaving a bank balance of 2354.87. Committees reported hours volunteered across nursing, kitchen, library and office duties while new classes and a slate of officers were announced for the coming year.

A twice decorated Navy Cross recipient and hero of the Solomon Islands, Rear Admiral Charles Purcell Cecil, will be honored as the destroyer U S S Charles P Cecil is launched at Bath Iron Works on Sunday at 10 30 a m. The sponsor will be Mrs Charles P Cecil widow of the late admiral. Cecil commanded the U S S Helena and died in a Pacific plane crash July 31 1944.
