Obituary of J Henry McLellan Pioneer Maine composer

J Henry McLellan 96 died March 28 in Laguna Beach California at his Hotel Laguna apartment. Born June 22 1863 in Bath Maine he worked in Bath business then as assistant inspector of machinery for the U S Navy near New York. A prolific composer he wrote operas songs and string works and lived in New York Portland and Laguna Beach crossing the Atlantic many times. Funeral services were held April 1 at Laguna Beach with later burial in Evergreen Portland.

Burglary scare ends with door damage at Center Street market

Born Leicester Massachusetts April 29 1885 daughter of Joseph B and Annie Biscoe Sargent she studied in Leicester Brookline High Newton High School worked as librarian at Newton later lived in Eugene Oregon Spokane Washington and Bath since 1925. She served as substitute librarian at Patten Free Library and belonged to the Church of the New Jerusalem. Surviving daughters Mildren Marshall and Catharine H Legard, four grandchildren four great grandchildren a sister Mildred S. Miner and a brother Joseph B. Sargent plus several nieces and nephews.
