Head of Education Department Speaks at Pomona Grange
Bertram E. Packard state commissioner of education was guest speaker at Sagadahoc Pomona meeting with Woolwich grange No 63 P of H on Wednesday. He discussed costs of education and noted Maine ranks 37nd in per capita education cost. The session drew 79 attendees with eight visitors and featured readings, music, and reports from several local granges.

Bailey School Visitors Night Showcases 1932 33 Classes
Public invited to Bailey Evening School of Industries on Thursday from seven to nine. Visitors will see 21 groups with an average of 12 students per class, including advanced dressmaking by Mrs. Alice E Heald and diesel engineering by Mr. Hoffman. Other displays include manual training, shorthand, typewriting, bookkeeping, handiwork, and crafts with items such as chairs and silver jewelry. Alton L. Robinson, Bangor band conductor, honored at City Hall after victory in New England. Mrs. W R Chapman to tax collect without pay to aid budget cuts in Marshfield.

Thespians Stage Mystery Play The Thirteenth Chair
The Thespians under H. Augustus House presented The Thirteenth Chair a Bayard Velker mystery in three acts at the Columbia theatre. Miss Miriam W. Kimball as Madame Rosalie LaGrange drew applause while Edna Antworth and Edwin Tietig delivered strong turns. Inspector Tim Donahue and Dr. Francis A. Winchenbach aided in the investigation as the room of thirteen faced a killer amid a staged seance.

Elwood Legard starred as Morse High beat the Y M C A and Colonial Club 73 to 24 at the Y gym. He broke two records by tossing the 12 pound shot 39 ft 7 in and long jumping 9 ft 2 in. Legard rival Alec Burden finished close in the 50 ft dash as Morse swept most events and claimed multiple top spots. Rupe Lewis led the Y M C A with 14 of his team’s 24 points, winning the running broad jump and breaking the shot put mark with 39 ft 2 in.
