The eleven township trustees met at Versailles court house to choose a county superintendent vacancy from Mr. Acher. Bradt won the caucus and received eleven votes on full board, declared elected pending court decision on Benham eligibility as prior holder.
Batesville ball club traveled to Osgood Sunday and returned without a win. Outsider reports a 9 to 0 score after a chaotic late game. Umpire troubles preceded the collapse as nine players faltered.
Batesville Lodge No. 668 F and A M is instituted in Batesville. Col Ed Wolfe of Rushville deputy Grand Master presided and conferred Past Master on H E Stowe. Officers installed include Stowe as W M and Ward as S D. A fine lunch followed. twenty five members joined with thanks to visiting members led by Col Wolfe for early support.
Batesville faces a housing shortage as August Fecher leaves town for Indianapolis due to lack of available rooms. Henry J. Schroeder buys Fecher's former residence to house his family, while Harry Gonder and wife will occupy the vacated rooms. New construction proceeds but cannot meet rising demand and high material costs slow more building.

Frederick Schrader died at home on Wednesday night June 12 at age 63. He was buried Saturday at St. John’s cemetery in Huntersville. funeral by Knights of Pythias and German Landwehr Verein. Schrader served in Ripley County politics, postmaster at Batesville, and leader of German American groups. survived by wife and eight children.
In Batesville Indiana the St Mark's Lutheran Church council denounces the June 18 rock attack on the parsonage as lawlessness harming the pastor and his wife. They pledge full cooperation with police and offer a reward of at least 2500 dollars for evidence leading to conviction.
