Randolph Krieger was surprised Saturday night at St. Clair hall for his 20th birthday. A group of boyfriends dragged him to the hall where about 100 youths gathered to celebrate with dancing food and drink, and all claimed they had a good time.
Father Constantine of Louisville Kentucky attended the ordination of six men to the priesthood led by Bishop O'Donoghue at Oldenburg. He visited local friends on Friday before departing in the evening. Julian Fogg, once at the Leo Kirschbaum blacksmith shop about fifteen years ago, arrived from Alexandria Virginia last Friday and stays with Mrs Kirschbaum and family.
Mr George Sippel and his young son Jedward traveled to Cincinnati on Tuesday for a throat operation to remove a growth causing him trouble.
Miss Carrie Febringer visits sister Mrs Kurtz then returns to Indianapolis. Nedkamp of Dry Ridge Ky trades for a stallion with Dr A E Martin. Local ads tout Mocha and Java coffee at 25e per pound. Residents from Indianapolis visit Peppertown and Cincinnati. Public notices of travel, illness, and shopping appear alongside local sales at Walsman A Schroeder's and Crystal Leaf Flour promotions.

The next morning Adolph Kaiser took them to Frederick Michael's near Hallstown, where they will reside with Mrs. Michael, Kalp's aunt. They arrived in New York on June 16 and reached Batesville on the 21st.
Mrs. George Stiegelmeyer and her three children from Denver Colorado visit her mother. Mrs. Hennenkamp and Mr and Mrs Frank Hichacker also stop by for a time.
Mrs. George H. Beck and her daughter Blanche arrived Wednesday after visiting relatives in Lincoln and Seward Nebraska and Chicago. They are joined by Miss Edna Beck of Chicago who will spend her vacation in the area.
Louis Ward begins geological work in Lawrenceburg and North Vernon with further duties in Ripley County next week. Cincinnati visitors include Misses Dora and Tillie Besler. Charles Kramer and family return to Indianapolis after two weeks here. Several locals visit relatives in Cincinnati while others attend sales, dances, and events.
The Batesville building activity this year centers on substantial structures including the First National Bank building at Pearl and Main and the A A Hackman residence on Walnut Street. Contractors report totals approaching the $100000 mark for 1907 with many homes and additions under way, while several smaller buildings, barns and sheds are completed or in progress. Margaret H. Arends and Rev. B. Arends were married at the Franke home on June 19 in a ceremony by Rev. Heeseman. They will honeymoon to Iowa towns West Burlington and Ackley before settling at the St Stephanus parsonage. The bride taught in Ripley county for six years and the couple will begin married life together.
At a German Protestant church in Cincinnati on June 26, Henry Schumacher wed Bertha Schrader. Rev Heges kamp officiated as sisters Helena and Olga Schrader and Flora Schumacher attended. The couple will set up on Main Street. mourners send best wishes for long life and happiness.
The Batesville corporation lists 530 legal voters with Laughery township adding 248, totaling 778 in town and township. Batesville’s two precincts may cover about 580 voters, suggesting three precincts are needed. St. Mark's Church will be frescoed and renovated with Edward Peice of Oldenburg managing the work. Sunday services and Sunday school will be held next Sunday, with a congregational meeting Monday at 7:30. After next Sunday, services pause for two weeks. All are invited.
Notice announces Joseph Luesse and partners reestablished the old feed and grain exchange formerly run by Wm. Krieger & Son and invites public patronage.
